I work Wednesday nights, so unfortunately I missed the scoping session (and never get to go to any Planning Commission hearings, annoyingly). What I heard was that most speakers were in favor of the project, although there were of course opponents present with the usual complaints. The two new Commissioners appointed by Dellums were the most skeptical, unsurprisingly, with one telling the developer that the next time they return, they should have resolved all community opposition, and another saying (bizarrely) that the EIR should study "alternative locations." All this information is secondhand, though.

If any readers were able to attend the meeting and want to share a little about what went on, I would definitely welcome the information.

Thanks to this innovative campaign, I can return "The Rice Room" by Ben Fong Torres to the Piedmont Avenue Branch and begin to show my face somewhere other than Walden Pond. I read it. I loved it. I have had it on my bookshelf for almost two years.
