My point is that calling me a psychopath and a racist is not an effective way to make your case.

If your point is that abusing, degrading, intimidating, bullying and humiliating students motivates them to achieve academic success, I guess you have provided anecdotal evidence making your case. So what you're saying is that AIPCS uses those strategies, that's the key to their success, and I'm wrong to cast suspicion on those skyrocketing scores. Got it.

Caroline -

I'm sorry, but I don't really understand what you're getting at. You made an assertion and I provided a counterexample proving you wrong. I don't really see why you're quoting lengthy irrelevant passages in comments on my blog, unless that's some bizarre attempt at spam.

I blogged about your blog post:

http://www.sfschools.org/2007/05/instilling-love-of-learning-in-our.html

BTW, my son has been reading an interesting little book called "Crimes Against Logic: Exposing the Bogus Arguments of Politicians, Priests, Journalists, and other Serial Offenders" by Jamie Whyte. Here's his comment on responses like the namecallnig, bullying and flaming aimed at me here and on the Novometro blog:

The chapter is titled: "Shut Up!"

Quote: "Suppose you suggest to your husband that subsidized llama
farming would set California's economic woes aright, and he takes
issue with you on the ground that you are an old bag. He has clearly
committed a bad mistake in logic (and perhaps others as well).
Because, even if you are an old bag, it may still be true that
subsidized llamas are exactly what California needs. The two
statements are not inconsistent. Your husband has not won the
argument; he has not refuted your opinion.

"In another sense, however, he probably has won the argument. Unless
you have a really exceptional devotion to agrarian reform in
California, his remark will have diverted you from your original
hypothesis and on to other topics. Indeed, if you are of normal
sensibilities, you may well have been left altogether silent by the
remark. The brute has won the argument, in the sense of getting you to
drop your point, getting you to shut up. ...

"You ... have encountered remarks that serve only to shut you up,
without showing that your position is wrong."
